Counting

We have been working with Kassi on her numbers, letters and colors. A few days ago she counted to six by herself and now she can count to ten and is able to recognize each of these numbers when she sees them! It is so funny because when we are in the store she will see a number and start saying it and pointing to it. I am so proud of her!
She can also recognize the colors yellow, green, red, blue, pink, brown and purple. We have also been working on her ABC's and she knows almost all of them. She does still get stuck on a few of them, but she tries really hard.

Lots of Pictures

I took over 200 pictures today! Here are just a few of my favorites!

Easter Fun

What a fun day today was! Kassi's Easter basket was in the middle of the living room floor for her so when she got up this morning she could find it right away, and she did. It was so cute, she walked up to it looked at it and us and said "oooooohhhhh". After that and breakfast Grandma and Grandpa came in and she went on her first Easter egg hunt. She did really well and had a lot of fun. After she would find one she would ask for more. She found all of the eggs and only had a little help from Grandma and Grandpa. Then we brought the eggs in so she could open them up. Grandpa was trying to get her to hit the eggs on the floor to open them, so she was slamming them on the floor, and thought that was a lot of fun. She even shared her goodies with all of us. Going around the room handing them out.

Later Grandma Janet came by with a goodie bag that had a little tutu in it. She thought that was really great especially since it was purple. After a lot more sugar than mom usually allows she sat down to read a few books.

After lunch we went to play outside. She played on her swing set, slide and ran (and I mean ran) two blocks down to the end of the cul-de-sac. Stopped and played with the neighbor girls for a little bit and came home to eat supper. After supper she took a bath laid down and was sound asleep by 6:30 p.m. She missed her nap amongst all of the fun today so an early bed time was just what she needed. She is at such a fun age!

Very Special Day

Yesterday was a very special day for us. It marked the one year anniversary of our finalization hearing. That means one year ago the judge made us "legally" a forever family! That was a big day and a day that will always remain very special.

We are so blessed to have Kassi in our lives. She is our little miracle. It was so amazing to have the agency call us on October 3rd, 2007 and tell us we had been picked and that our little girl was going to be born. I will never forget the rush of emotions that followed that day and the next. Our profile had only been approved a couple of weeks before and the staff said to expect at least a 7 month wait until we would be matched. We beat the average by 6.5 months!

This is all part of Kassi's story so as a special gift for her we had a book made with pictures of her and tidbits of her story. I know right now it is just pictures and a story, but I hope that someday she will cherish it and know just how much she is loved and how happy she has made us.

18 Months Old

It is so hard to believe that Kassi is 18 months old! She is getting to be really helpful around the house. She loves to help with the laundry and always puts her dirty clothes in the hamper. We have started to have clean up her toys after she is done playing with them. She does fairly well with this, I think it will help when we get them thinned out of the living room a little. That is our new project. We are going to clear out the upstairs spare room and turn it into her toy room. Our living room is just too small for the ever expanding toy and book collection!

Since Saturday was just a yucky day outside we decided to try some new fun things inside. First we dyed Easter eggs and then we finger painted! Overall Kassi kept fairly clean. We did take some precautions though and put her in one of Wes' old t-shirts.
Easter eggs the no-mess way!
Finger painting fun!

Just a little mess!
