Rainy Day Fun

It  has been raining for what feels like forever.  I think we are all tired of being cooped up in the house and even though there have been a couple of days where the sun came out it was really too muddy to go out.  Anyway we have had come up with new rainy day things to do.  This week Kassi decided she wanted to make a pinata.  After watching several video clips online she found one she liked and I was okay with the supplies and plaster materials so we decided to try it.

Kassi wanted her pinata to be really strong and the things we read and watched said it needed a minimum of three layers and to be strong should have six layers.  Each layer took a full day due to dry time.  On the fourth day she decided it was strong enough and she was done.  I went ahead and put one extra layer on it for her.

Today we finished decorating and stuffing the pinata.  Kassi is so excited and I think it looks kind of cool.  It is sad to think that it will only take a couple of hits and it will be all over!  I promised Kassi a picnic with her friends and the pinata next weekend if it is nice.  So hopefully we will see the sun this week and she can have her party.

Kassi's First Dance Recital

Kassi had her first dance recital on Friday night.  She did really well.  I wish I could get the video to load so that everyone could see it, but for whatever reason I cannot get it to upload anywhere.  :(  So instead everyone just gets to see the pictures.

After her first dance she told me she loved the stage and always wanted to be on the stage.  I asked her if that meant she was going to dance again next year and she said she will always want to dance so she can be on stage.

I have to admit this was all a little hard on me for a couple of reasons...I am not one to let my daughter out of my sight.  She only stays with a couple of people when we are not with her and in order to watch her dance I had to let her out of my sight and leave her backstage so I could go back out into the audience...absolutely terrifying for me!  It also made me really see that my baby girl is growing up and wanting to do things on her own.  She was okay with mom leaving her backstage, she wanted mom to let her stay backstage with the other kids.  "Sigh"  I don't think I am ready for this...

On our way!

Singing and dancing outside.

Waiting backstage.

The finale.
