Nina has been picked!

It is official this little girl will be our Nina! We will get to meet her on June 9. I don't which of us is more excited to go and pick her up at the airport. Kassi is amazed that Nina gets to fly in an airplane!

Nina Update

I thought I'd post an update for those who have been following our "Nina" story for the last few months. We have individual puppy pictures which means we are getting really close to picking our Nina and getting to meet her. We have it narrowed down to the three we like. While she is supposed to be Wes' puppy Kassi has had her input as well. With the last litter we were scheduled to get a pup from we had the first pick of the females. Since we changed litters a little late we now have the third pick of the females with this litter. Hence the reasoning for having three picks, just in case the two before us pick the favorite. I have never picked a puppy without actually being there and playing with it. This is a first for me, going off the breeders word and looking at pictures!

So the first pictures are of Nina's parents. I think the female, Peaches, is beautiful...

First Trip to the Dentist

Kassi had her first trip to the dentist this week. We talked about it for several days and I tried to explain everything that they would do. I told her she would have to open her mouth very wide and they would count her teeth, use a mirror to look inside, use a little "squirt gun" to spray water in her mouth, use a little "suction straw" to get the water out and use a really small toothbrush to clean her teeth.


When we got there she was so excited we went with the intention of just having her teeth looked at and counted, but she was so comfortable in the chair the hygienist said she was confident she could clean them without any problem and I knew she was right. So Kassi had her first cleaning. Kassi only let me take two pictures and then she told me I couldn't take anymore, but at least I got one of her in the dentist chair.


As usual she made a big impression on everyone and they all seemed to love her. When we left she asked when we were going to get to go back.


I am so glad it went this well. I know she is an outstanding little girl and always makes me so very proud so I always expect the best. I did have a little fear though because of an episode of "John and Kate Plus Eight" which I had seen where the kids go to the dentist for the first time and half of them scream and don't sit still. Not my baby girl though, she rocks!!

First Camping Trip of 2010

We took our first camping trip of the year over the weekend. It was nice to get away for a few days. I hope we get a chance to go a lot more than we did last year.
I got some neat pictures of Kassi and some different scenery pictures. We got to see a lot of wildlife...a heron, lots of birds I've never seen before, snakes, a turtle, turkeys and of course deer.

The geese were nesting on the cliffs around the campground. Don't think that is the best place for a nest of waterfowl...

Mother's Day

As a spur of the moment thing we decided to go to Red Lodge on Mother's Day. We took Kassi to the Beartooth Nature Center. It was cold and rainy, but we had a lot of fun. Kassi's two favorite things were the cat and the buffalo.
