Free Time

Free time...what is it?  I don't seem to find as much of it as I used to.  Technically right now I could say I have some free time so I decided to blog...but actually I don't have the free time, because I should be putting away the three loads of laundry I just washed, emptying the dishwasher or many other things which need done around here.  I guess I have finally reached a point where I accept that my house is not perfect and enjoy spending the time I can with my beautiful family.

Tonight Wes is teaching his rookies at the Fire Hall, Kassi is having a sleep over at Grandma and Grandpas and I am thinking of all the things I should be doing, but really don't want to do right now.  Instead I'd rather sit here and update everyone on what my family is up to.

Wes, as I said, is still busy with the Fire Department.  He hopes to finish his officer classes this year.  He is Rookie Trainer again this year.  He survived his time in Texas and doesn't care to go back there again unless he has too.  (I don't think we will ever be taking a vacation in that part of the country!)  He will take additional ASE tests this spring/summer with the hopes of going forward and getting becoming a master technician.  He has been taking Nina out hunting as much as he can, and is very pleased with how she is working out.

Nina has turned into a pretty good dog.  She will be a year in April.  Everyone said to figure she would be in complete puppy mode until she was at least three.  I think she has calmed down a bunch here recently though.  She does really good with her commands.  She goes in her kennel when you tell her to, in the living room she goes to her bed when you tell her to and she has begun listening to Kassi when she tells her down or to sit.  She still gets a little wound up with Kassi when they get to playing so we are trying to teach her and teach Kassi to tell her down.

Kassi seems to have turned into a little adult overnight.  It seems like she has just suddenly grown up.  She amazes me all the time with her vocabulary, memory and just general knowledge.  For only being three she knows a lot of different things.  She is doing really well with her addition and subtraction.  I think she enjoys her dance class and is kind of excited to have her recital in May.  Lately her request has been for a baby brother or sister and of course I always have to break it to her that nope, that just is not going to happen.  I do however encourage her new "grown up" plans of becoming a doctor!

As usual I don't really have much to update on my side.  My asthma still continues to be out of control and I really think it stinks, but I also don't want to take the medication they would give me to help get it back on track, so I guess I will just live with it for now.   For those of you who know her I have an update on Candy, she graduates from Army Basic Training in mid February.  I am so proud of her.

2011 Portraits

We had our portraits taken on Saturday. We have done this every year since Kassi was born at about the same time of year. It is neat to look back and see the changes. We have been doing them at Sears, because of the price, but I think it is time to spend more money and make a change. I think they turned out good, but they are always the same thing.

Winter Days

We had weather which was above zero and fairly calm over the weekend so we had to get out and enjoy it while it lasted.  I think we were all glad to get out of  the house for awhile!

A New Year

I have been thinking about everything that 2010 brought and what 2011 may bring.

A few highlights from 2010 include:
-The arrival of Nina...who would have ever thought we would have a puppy flown to us with only seeing her picture.
-The loss of Daisey...this was very hard on me.  So much so that, even with as much as I love animals, I don't know that I care to get another pet.  I am sure Wes and Kassi will still continue to have them, but I don't think I'll be bringing any home.
-Potty training success was reached!  Hooray!  Of course it had to be Kassi's way, with all trying and encouraging she just got up one day and said she was ready and that was it.  We haven't put a pullup on since then.
-Kassi started dance and I think she really likes it.
-Wes flew for the first time and went to Texas for the first time.  I think he will fly again, but don't expect him to want to go back to Texas again.
-We sold all of our dirt bikes.  Now some may not think this is a big deal, but if you really know Wes you know this is a big thing.  In the almost 13 years we have been together I cannot count how many dirt bikes we have had.  I would say that normally at one time we would generally have at least five dirt bikes.  Now instead of a garage full of dirt bikes we have two four wheelers.
-Kassi has learned so much and grown up so much.  She now does simple addition and subtraction.  She can spell several words and reads, or at least recognizes, several words.

So what will 2011 bring?  I know a few things...
-Wes and I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary!
-Kassi will start preschool.
As for what else it will bring I guess it will be a surprise.  So here is to another year.  Happy New Year everyone.
