Little Sponges?

I've always heard people say that toddler and preschool aged kids are just like sponges, they absorb everything around them. Matter of fact a co-worker just said this to me on Friday when I had Kassi in the office. I think that is one of those things you hear and don't really think much about until your own child is at this age.

Kassi has definitely hit the "little sponge" age. She has picked up so many things in the past few weeks, even in the past few days. Some of which are adorable and some that remind me to watch what we say and what is on the TV when she is in the room! Today I made the mistake of saying "oh crap" and the next thing I know I hear baby girl looking at something saying "o cwap". Oops.

The good part of this stage is she is really adding to her vocabulary, memory and knowledge. We haven't had broccoli for quite awhile, yet tonight when I put it on her plate she said "broccoli, yummy". She has learned a little more of her alphabet and can recognize her name when we write it out. (I read somewhere that one of the most important things for a child to know before preschool was what their name looks like when it is written, because in preschool everything will be assigned with their name on it.)

Well the baby wants to play her computer game, so I guess I better switch gears and let her. She is saying "patience and game please"!

  1. I didn't know about the name thing. Good to know. I will start working on that with Mason. I know what you mean. How quickly my little baby is becoming a littly boy.
